My first article for That’s So Gloss is one where I wanna have a little fun and let y’all get to know me. So basically I have for the teenagers among you, five…whatever you’d like to call them. Rules, Lessons, Pieces of advice, whatever. It’s hard being a teenage girl today. So much to worry about. Looks, school, college, boys, parents, teachers, friends… it’s a tough world here people!
Here are my two bits, on what I’ve learnt in my 17 years. Love it, hate it, you’ll end up learning it yourself at one point, so don’t say I didn’t warn you!
So here I am with: *drum roll* Lisa’s survival guide for teens
#1 Dil pe mat le yaar (Never take anything to your heart)
Now don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean you should enjoy life, friendships and relationships to the fullest. But sometimes, it is better to remember that if something bad happens, it’s not permanent!
#2 Be you. Sans the frills and the layer of fluff.
This might sound old and clichéd but that’s only cause it’s a classic rule, girl! You’re a diva! Don’t change that for anything – or more importantly anyone.
#3 Be a kid while you still have a choice
Trust me, I’m a veteran at being a teenager, I would know. Growing up is exciting, sure! But once you start growing up, you’ll also start missing times when you didn’t have a tonne of work
#4 Listen to other people once in a while
It won’t do you any harm. I know this is a tough one, but I often find myself regretting not listening to my friends, (mostly) and my parents. (Takes a real girl to admit that)
#5 What people say is not necessarily true
It takes years to build a reputation, and one rumour can destroy it in a second. Don’t hastily believe everything you hear, even if it’s from your best friend. It’s always a good idea to check and make sure you have your facts right just to be on the safe side. (Especially on Facebook)
Now, that’s all I have for now. Much love till next time.
